Sometimes I often wonder if winners really are randomly picked or flat out chosen. It’s hard not to wonder about this when you see the same people winning prizes over and over again, especially when the winners are “bigwigs” or when the winners are fellow blogger friends. I’m not accusing anyone of doing this (so don’t go and get your panties/underwear in a wad over it) but, if they did, I could see why. You get a backlink for one thing. This is great but the publicity you would get from a bigwig winner would be the most benificial gain.
I decided to do a short, simple video to draw the winner of my contest. This way, you see that the winner really was a random choice and not a personal choice. You will have to watch the video to see who the winner was. If you entered and are not a regular reader of my blog, it’s ok. I will show the winner link love on Friday in the “My 2 Cents” post. That person will have 1 week from that day to claim his/her prize money.
I received 32 unique entries. 9 of those received 2 entries for humor and creativity. 1 entry was from a person who doesn’t even have a blog, they were just a reader.
There were many people who plugged my contest without an entry and I want to say thank you very much! I think this contest went really well and was extremely pleased with the number of entries. This blog is officially 1 month old and has already exceeded my expectations. Again, thank you to all who participated either by entry or plugging:) Please keep in mind, I am no filmmaker. This video is very un-fancy and to the point.

I have wondered this myself. I have also been accused of picking the winner of my last contest. Which I did not. The video idea is a great solution. I will have to attempt this when my current contest ends.
I was afraid of that. I think it crosses everyones mind at some point. I would never do it but I know there are plenty of people who would.
Dont worry, I’ve seen thousands of contest out there and those who afraid of being accused of rigging contest is normally the one who play it fairly.
By the way I like that cowboy hat! Its very rare to see those kind of hat in my country. All in all, good luck to everyone.. :)
Cheers!

I love your little accent!!! Congrats to Hannah!
How funny..I didn’t even think about that. I never notice it I guess:)
I run a contest and sweepstakes directory and also run my own little monthly sweepstakes to win various items. I use a javascript code random generator that I picked up on a website dedicated to javascript. You just put in how many people entered the sweepstakes and it will randomly pick a number for you. Easy as that if other contest owners are looking for a way to pick winners. They say that legally you should always video yourself making a drawing just in case. I have seen several contest owners using Random.org also. Well everyone have a great day!

Congrates to Hannah. Thanks for the contest Lori. It was quite fun an innovative. Really had fun thinking up the story to fill in the blanks.
