Being part of the AuctionAds program, I was recently invited to take part in the ShoppingAds Beta program. It works very similiar to their AuctionAds. You put in relevant keywords for the type of products you want displayed.
You start with the Ad Code Wizard. This is where you choose the keywords, ad format, colors, and which blog it will be on.

Below this, you will be able to see what the ad will look like and, possibly, an idea of what kind of product will displayed.

I changed my colors to match my blog so if you look to the right top sidebar, you will see how my turned out. I used the keyword “blog” and some blogging books have been displaying.
ShoppingAds is a cost per click product. Users are currently seeing a $.25 average range. I think this is a very nice return.
They also have an affiliate program. For every person that signs up, you will receive a 5% bonus on all revenue made by that user for 6mths. There is a 30 day cookie and they pay via Paypal the 1st of every month.
I predict ShoppingAds to be just as successful as AuctionAds. If you think you can implement this on your blog, then you should definately sign up.
I included a screenshot of ads placed on my personal blog “A Cowboy’s Wife”. I used cricut as my keyword. (This is scrapbooking stuff).

I ran auction ads for a month but didn’t get a lot of response. I did however tweak it so that you could get it to show ads that were relevant to each post, instead of the one keyword. All you have to is install Ultimate Tag Warrior and place the right code in the keyword section
I used Auction ads for quite some time, then removed it as it was not performing well.
The bad news is that ShoppingAds isn´t getting any clicks.
Which is kind of “funny” since the ads look the same as the AuctionAds ones that got tons of clicks. I have an interesting post about this in my blog.
I have VERY good success with AuctionAds on my personal blog. I haven’t implemented it on this blog though. Maybe it’s all about the niche.
There’s a 2 day lag so I haven’t been able to check stats through shoppinads, however, I have seen that people have clicked on it using other statistics from mybloglog, google anaylytics, and feedburner. Maybe you just didn’t try the right keyword ;)
Lets just say I am using the same keywords…
If you’re already a ShoppingAds user, or considering becoming one, you should check out emptyspaceads - turn your website’s empty space into cash (a product I left my full-time job at Microsoft to build), which allows you to put ShoppingAds units in your website’s empty space. After all, when was the last time you made any money from your site’s empty space? Better yet, you don’t have to give up any existing ad units to run emptyspaceads. Keep what works!
We hope to add more ad networks soon! You can also create your own TextAds, ImageAds, and even HTMLAds. I invite you to try it out and send your honestly brutal feedback. Thanks!
