I’ve been studying different niches and am surprised at how well some do over others in fields that I wouldn’t even think of. Because my mom has 2 daschunds, I took a look at the “dog” niche. It seems to be quite popular and I’ve narrowed it down to 2 things as to why it’s so popular.
Really, it does seem like everyone today owns a dog and celebrities are no exception. If Paris Hilton buys a cute little Chihuahua, how many you think are likely to follow? ALOT! So blogging in the dog niche can be very lucrative because of the celebrity factor. Not to mention all the other stuff like dog supplies, dog clothes, pet food, dog insurance, ect.
In a nutshell, don’t think that just because your niche (topic) isn’t about making money online doesn’t mean you can’t make money online with it!

This is what I find the most frustrating about most of the “Make money online” blogs I read. They’re really all about making money with “making money” blogs.
For example. Many run great contests that require you to blog about their contest on your blog. But I run a TV blog and it wouldn’t be appropriate to bombard my readers with contest announcements for money making blogs.
I’d like to see more emphasis on niche blogs and how to monetize them.

My pet peeve is “make money blogging” blogs that are 1. the bloggers first and only blog, 2. are hosted on Blogger or another free site.
