Being in the business of submitting to web directories, I'd like to add that directory links are better when targetting niche and not-so-competitive search terms as compared to other more widely search for terms. It's important to keep this in mind when writing your titles (anchor text) that will be used for submissions.

directory submissions can be useful and while sites like the open directory(dmoz) can be powerful helps, they're also bloody hard to get into. Inclusion is at the whim of human editors and their personal likes and dislikes. From what I understand there isn't any real standard and they don't care much for blogs.

When I do directory submissions, I like to work from the list of "SEO Friendly" directories that you can get from info.vilesilencer.com. It's a huge list of directories, free and paid, that give do-follow links. the list currently has 549 entries in it. Many of which don't even require a reciprocal link.

Come to think of it, I'm due for another run at it with several new sites soon.

selif's last blog post..Election Confusion
