I have come a long ways since last year and although I’m still a ways off from where I want to be, I have made enough money to fill up my checking account and pay bills. I’ve actually been making a good chunk of change through-out the year but was paying off debts. I’m happy to say that that we are debt free with the exception of our vehicles and even still, the truck is almost paid off! It was tempting to spend the money as I earned it but I knew that if I could just get those bills paid off, I would have lots of extra spending money.
PRIORITIZING MY DEBTS
I had 3 credit card bills with a total balance of around $2500. There are various ways to pay your bills but I chose to pay the low balanced bills off first that way I could apply the amount I paid on them, to the largest balanced bill.
Example:
1st credit card balance–$400 with a min. payment of $20
2nd card balance——-$600 with a min. payment of $30
3rd credit card balance-$1000 with a min. payment of $75
This leaves me paying $125 a month just to get the minimums paid. I paid off #1 cc first, then took that $20 and applied it towards #2 cc, which meant I was paying a total of $50 towards #2 cc now. After #2 cc was paid off, I took that $50 and applied it towards #3 cc for a min. payment of $125.
I was able to pay all this off in a year due to the extra income via blogging. I basically doubled my payments, otherwise it would have taken 2+ years to payoff. I made my final payment this month which leaves me debt free!!
DISCIPLINE
Paying off debt is by far the hardest goal to accomplish in my opinion. It’s extremely tempting to spend that money when you get it and it’s okay to spend some as long as you have applied your set amounts to your debts. If you have the money, pay your bills early. This is just common sense and it’s a good habit to get into. You may also avoid certain finances charges by making an early payment. Just keep reminding yourself that, in no time, you’ll have that $125 to spend on whatever you want!
A HEALTHIER YOU
Financial debts are at the top of the list for stress producers which can easily lead to heart attacks,
breakdown, or even suicide. Why spend your one and only life worrying over this kind of stuff. Take care of it and live a more stress free lifestyle. Getting out of debt has been proven to reduce stress, blood pressure, and increase those happy hormones and we all want to live a long healthy life!

But I have been meaning to ask you. How do you handle taxes for your blogging?
