After an Internet outage, I’m finally back online and can hopefully get all my blogs updated ASAP.  So let’s get to it……..

The affiliate summit went on this week and it seems like everybody had a good time with tons of pictures to prove it.  Jason Calacanis had some ugly things to say about affiliate marketers that had people talking and I was quite upset about it.  I do a lot of affiliate marketing but I NEVER promote junk and I absolutely do not identify myself as a spammer.  Now maybe if I started blogging about bodystockings and stuff here at this blog I could see where he’s coming from but I am a very trustworthy gal and would never screw anyone for a buck!  If you haven’t read about what was said yet, you can read it at Ian’s blog, after-all, he was there.

On a lighter side, I have been officially categorized as “The Journeyman” according to Gyutae over at WinningtheWeb.com.  This is from a blogger type series and I’m proud to be labeled as this particular kind.  Gyutae states what a Journeyman is:

Qualities of a journeyman

  • Documents experiences and learnings in a detailed account on the blog
  • Shares emotions and struggles, successes and failures
  • Seeks higher status, usually as an expert or celebrity

Benefits of being a journeyman

  • Connects to the audience on a deeper level
  • Is able to relate to many of the readers who are in the same position
  • Gains more trust from audience because they are “real”

Tactics journeymen use for their blogs

  • Be as open and transparent as possible
  • Share secrets and experiences that readers would be interested in
  • Give tips to readers so they don’t make the same mistakes
  • Tell personal stories

What do you think?  Am I this kind of blogger?  Go check out his series and see what type of blogger you are.

DoshDosh has a really good article on building your reputation.  One of the recommendations given is to use the same avatar/brand everywhere.  This is something I need to change because I’ve got different things going on everywhere.  I’m definitely going to put this on my to do list!

Katy from I’m Blogging That, has a well written tutorial on using the All in One SEO plugin.  I have this installed but have never used it to it’s full potential.  I’m thankful for the tutorial and will be redoing mine this evening.

Finally, Matt from Blogging Fingers has released a new ebook entitled, “Blog Monetization Strategies“.  It’s loaded with very useful information that I would talk about here but I think it’s worth your time to just head on over and download the ebook yourself.

With *fingers crossed*, hopefully I’ll have a new look by Monday but won’t count my chickens before they hatch!  I hope you all have a wonderful, fun, and (if you must) productive weekend.

  5. Ouch. I did not like what he said so much either. I do not consider myself a spammer. And when I write reviews, I really try to only write about what I have used or have tried or whatnot.. This is probably why I don’t make so much money! lol
But I gotta stay true to myself first, above all else!

  7. On building a reputation - I write on Live Journal and some time ago someone made a graphic just for me and I started using it as my avatar every time instead of switching as they allow per post. Someone took a liking to my avatar and began using it themselves. I had several people come to me confused by comments “I” had left for them - when it wasn’t me at all. They were so used to seeing my avatar they didn’t even look at the the name! Apparently I’d built up a rep without evening knowing it!
