I have been looking for a form builder forever now and was so excited when Katy let me in on this VERY simple plugin. I orginally wanted it to replace the crappy one I had at my food blog for the recipe submission. The form was all messed up and looked terrible. I installed & implemented the new form plugin and it looks so much better and professional.
I also decided to add another form here at this blog for my readers. Through the form, you will be able to ask a question, request a tutorial, or write a testimonial. Only 1 question, request, or testimonial per form is requested so I can manage them all better.
It’s very simple to install and fairly easy to configure. I say fairly, because I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the instruction codes from the author’s plugin page. As a matter of fact, I pretty much just copied & pasted the codes and then changed the text to what suited me. I’ll give you a brief tutorial on how I did it, but I recommend you visit the plugin page for extensive instructions.
First, you download the Secure DD Form Mailer Plugin from the plugin page. Upload it to your plugins directory and activate. Once activated, create the page that you want the form to be on. This can be a contact form, recipe submission form, testimonials form, or whatever your little heart desires. You only need to place one piece of code in the post section of your page. The code will look like this:

Once you’ve added the code, save your page. Now go to your options page to DDFM1. This is where you will customize your form and settings. The first part is settings and form structure and looks like this:

As you can see, you put in the url to the page you created for the form and then the email you want the form submission sent to. Now the form structure box is where I copy and pasted the default codes given on the author’s page. I simply changed a couple of words. Once you learn what the different words mean, it will be easy. The author does an EXCELLENT job at explaining everything and holding your hand through it. His instructions are very easy to follow so you shouldn’t have any problems. Once you’ve customized your form, you can scroll down to more options. I skipped a bunch of them and only changed these:

I made my own success message but you can use the default. I left everything else on the page set at the defaults to make it easy but there are numerous things you can change or add.
And that concludes this tutorial on how to use the Form Mailer Plugin. This is an awesome plugin and is user friendly and professional looking. Don’t forget, it is secure!
