How to Use WP Affiliate Pro

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I have said it from the beginning, I’m a huge fan of the WP Affiliate Pro Plugin.  It’s super easy to use and makes everything automated.  This is important because my time is limited.

There is controversy about whether or not to hide affiliate links but ultimately it’s your decision.  I will say this, I didn’t make over $900for nothing.  When I implemented this powerful plugin, my conversions increased by 100%.

Once you have downloaded, installed, and activated the plugin, you’ll need to go to ‘Manage’ in your WP dashboard.

KEYWORD

The first box is for the keyword you will be using and that you want replaced by your affiliate link.  Since I used my food blog as the main example, I put “fresh herbs” in this box.

AFFILIATE LINK

This is your affiliate link and where you want the reader to go after they have clicked on your keyword.  My affiliate link will take the reader to Aerogarden when they click on fresh herbs.

STATUSBAR TEXT

This is what will show up when you hover over the mouse and what they’ll see at the bottom.  See pic below for example.  I have mine set to look like they are being redirected to some page on my site.  I recommend this sort of method or to have it look like it goes to the actual site.  Example: http://aerogarden.com.

MAXIMUM REPLACEMENT COUNT

This is how many times you want it to link to the keyword.  Say you mention ‘fresh herbs’ 10 times in your post.  You don’t want 10 links to that one place so you would change the number to an appropriate amount.

KEYWORD WEIGHT

This is how the link will randomly show up.  By leaving it at the default, your keyword will be linked sporadically throughout the post instead of consecutively.  This makes lit look much less spammy.

NOFOLLOW ATTRIBUTE

If you want to add the the nofollow attribute, check the box.  I check the box every-time.

INTERNAL TRACKING

If you want to disable the internal tracking system, check the box.  I haven’t investigated this much.

THE RESULT

Once you have written your post with the keywords selected and then published, you will see your links automatically created.  When they hover over my fresh herbs link, they will see the url that I want them to see, which in my case, looks like they are going to a page within my blog.

It’s that easy folks.  You don’t have to do anything else once you’ve added your choice of keywords and affiliate links.  You can just type your post up as normal and they’ll be there when you hit the publish button!  Use anything you want too.  Insert affiliate links for themes, SEO books, baby cribs, and more!!  I LOVE IT.

I HIGHLY recommend the WP Affiliate Pro Plugin to everyone.  Yes, there are free ways to do this, but they’re too much work for me.  If you want simplicity, get this.

  3. I really don’t like this plugin at all. I bought it and don’t use it. The links that it generates look aweful, and mine as well be affiliate links. I just went ahead and made my own redirect script, works a lot better and I can choose when and where to use it. Best of all, its free ;)

  5. Hi Jim:) I’m just curious WHY you don’t like the plugin?? I’ve always talked about the free versions of this in my previous posts but I had a specific question from a reader on how to use this, which is why I wrote it.

The links look normal when a reader hovers over it. You must be talking about once they click it?? If so, that really doesn’t matter. IT’s what they see when they first put their mouse over the link. Once they’ve clicked on it, they’re committed for the most part.

I never said it was the best thing out there but I do love it and it’s SUPER easy to understand. Anyone should be able to use it and that’s why I promote it. Many people don’t understand scripts or how to write text files to upload, etc. This is simple and effective.

  6. I’ve come across this before but for some reason didn’t really get it. But your post has clarified it’s purpose for me… thanks.

Having said that I’ll definately think about getting it. I have a few non-affiliate based blogs that do fairly mediocre adsense wise - and so might be better monetized with affiliate links. But I’ve never bothered so far because of the time involved. This might just be the answer!

  7. Is there a way to STOP the links on a specific page in WPAP?

I’m thinking about a home page that I want to use as a newsletter subscribe and then I don’t want it yo look too affiliate-link like? Once subscribed the members get links back to the rest of the blog that has the aff links fully loaded.

I know from Catalin that there was none built into the program when he wrote it, but I wonder if it can easily be coded to fix what I want?

Or is it a job for Elance?

    Thanks

    Mike
